During a press conference on Friday, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett addressed the potential for President Donald Trump to dismiss Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. In response to inquiries, Hassett indicated that the administration would continue to consider this possibility.

“The president and his team will continue to study that matter,” he stated while speaking to reporters at the White House.

This discussion arose following Trump’s recent escalation of tensions with Powell, whom he accused of engaging in “politics” by refusing to lower interest rates. The president further suggested that he could swiftly remove Powell from his position if he chose to do so.
