Ripple, a leading digital asset infrastructure provider catering to financial institutions and the organization behind XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD), has made a significant announcement of a $25 million commitment directed towards U.S. education nonprofits DonorsChoose and Teach For America.
A press release shared with Finance Newso reveals that this partnership marks the first occasion on which the two nonprofits will receive “the majority” of the $25 million grant in Ripple’s USD-backed stablecoin, RLUSD.
The funding is set to bolster innovative and impactful initiatives throughout the year, financing “thousands” of classroom projects and teacher requests during Teacher Appreciation Week, supporting Teach For America’s Ignite tutoring program, and facilitating the STEM Innovation Challenge.

Aneesh Sohoni, CEO of Teach For America, emphasized that this funding will not only enhance the Ignite Tutoring Fellows program but also foster innovation within the organization’s Reinvention Lab, as well as provide crucial financial support to thousands of new corps members embarking on their teacher preparation journeys.
This collaboration places a strong emphasis on financial literacy, aiming to equip students and educators with vital resources needed to “improve academic outcomes, build economic resilience, and thrive in a rapidly evolving job market.”
Ripple also highlighted that stablecoins have constituted over half of all on-chain transaction volume in recent months, according to data from Chainalysis. The organization argues that empowering charitable organizations to utilize such technologies within their existing frameworks will become increasingly advantageous.
Ripple launched RLUSD—an entirely USD-backed stablecoin, fully collateralized by U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. government treasuries, and other cash equivalents—in June 2024, commencing beta testing in early August, and officially launching RLUSD in mid-December 2024.
Increasing Financial Literacy Rate
As noted in the press release, educators in the United States face significant challenges in securing essential resources for their classrooms due to limited funding. These resources are crucial for ensuring that students can seize economic opportunities in the future.
“Teachers are going the extra mile for their students’ education, even spending hundreds – sometimes thousands – of dollars out-of-pocket for their classrooms,” commented Alix Guerrier, CEO of DonorsChoose. He underscored that Ripple is making a direct impact by providing teachers with the necessary resources.

Ripple asserts that this partnership represents a key step in its broader strategy to enhance financial literacy through “philanthropy and crypto-enabled solutions.” The organization has previously supported “hundreds” of nonprofits, fintechs, and universities as part of its University Blockchain Research Initiative.
Guerrier further explained that this partnership would ensure that students receive materials enriching their educational experience while equipping them with the tools necessary to forge a successful future.
Moreover, Ripple claims to have invested more than $200 million into global initiatives since 2018, with nearly 80% of its employees actively participating in donation and volunteering programs.
According to Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, the collaboration stands to benefit thousands of classrooms across the U.S. “Together, we hope to inspire others to do the same,” he remarked.
