A Slovak court has found Peter Kazimir, the governor of the central bank and an influential policymaker within the European Central Bank (ECB), guilty of corruption, according to a ruling announced on Thursday.

The Specialised Criminal Court levied a fine of 200,000 euros (approximately $225,620) against Kazimir, with the alternative of a one-year prison sentence if the penalty is not paid, as stated by Judge Milan Cisarik.
