Following a military operation, Israel’s defense minister has declared a ‘special situation’ as tensions escalate after an Israeli air assault on Iran.

According to two U.S. officials speaking to NBC News, the Israeli military has initiated airstrikes targeting Iranian positions, though they clarified that there was no participation from U.S. forces in these operations.

In response to the rising tensions, U.S. stock futures fell on Thursday night, reflecting concerns over the stability of the Middle East.

In a statement reported by NBC News and the Associated Press, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced a nationwide state of emergency across Israel. He indicated that a missile and drone assault against Israeli targets could be imminent following the recent preemptive strike on Iran.

“In light of the state of Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, we anticipate an immediate missile and drone attack on the State of Israel and its civilian population,” Katz stated. “Therefore, exercising his authority under the Civil Defense Law, Minister Katz has issued a special order for implementing a state of emergency across the entire State of Israel.”

He urged citizens to follow directives from the Home Front Command and local authorities, advising them to remain in designated protected areas.
