Fans of Kim Kardashian will have to exercise a bit more patience as the highly awaited NikeSKIMS activewear line will now debut later this year rather than in the spring, as previously planned. Production delays are the cause of this shift, as reported by an insider who requested anonymity to discuss internal matters critically. The source clarified that these delays are not linked to supplier or shipping challenges.
As of now, a specific launch date has yet to be confirmed. However, the insider reassured that the collaboration between Kardashian and Nike remains strong, emphasizing a collective commitment to ensuring the products are perfected before they hit the market.
Nike first revealed its partnership with Skims in February, outlining plans for a collection that would feature apparel, footwear, and accessories. Since the announcement, notable leadership changes have occurred within the company, including the departure of Heidi O’Neill, a key figure in the collaboration.
Newly appointed Nike CEO Elliott Hill is banking on the Skims brand to help revitalize the company’s performance amid recent sales declines. With Skims valued at approximately $4 billion, this partnership offers a significant growth opportunity as it ventures into the athleisure market.
The current market situation sees Nike’s stock experiencing a downturn, dropping more than 20% year-to-date.
When introducing the NikeSKIMS line, the company stated, “The origin of NikeSKIMS is rooted in a desire to bring something new and unexpected to an industry that is craving something different, and to invite a new generation of women into fitness with disruptive product designed to meet their needs in both performance and style.”
