TIANJIN, China — On Wednesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang urged countries around the globe to work together on trade issues, even in the face of increasing tariffs and trade barriers.

“Globalization will not be reversed,” Li stated through an official English translation, emphasizing the need for all nations to avoid politicizing or securitizing trade relations.

During his remarks, Li highlighted that participating in the international economy serves as a means to “reshape the rules and order” of trade.

While addressing the audience at the opening plenary of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in China—commonly referred to as “Summer Davos”—Li chose not to specifically discuss tensions with the United States or the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

This year’s event saw participation from several prominent political figures, including Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa Azín, as noted in a press release from the forum.

Among the notable attendees were JD.com Founder and Chairman Liu Qiangdong, as well as TCL Founder and Chairman Li Dongsheng.
