London-based technology firm The Smarter Web Company has disclosed the acquisition of an additional 226.42 Bitcoin for approximately £17.87 million, equivalent to $24 million.

Significant Highlights:

The latest acquisition increases Smarter Web’s total Bitcoin holdings to 1,000 BTC, valued at over £78 million.

The company has reported a remarkable 26,242% year-to-date BTC Yield as a result of its aggressive treasury strategy.

Amidst uncertain local regulatory conditions, other UK companies are also enhancing their Bitcoin portfolios.

This latest investment solidifies Smarter Web’s ranking among UK-listed firms with substantial cryptocurrency treasuries.

With an average purchase price of £78,932 ($107,726) for the new Bitcoin, this is slightly above the company’s overall average of £78,228 ($106,766).

Smarter Web Surpasses £78 Million in Bitcoin Investments

Following this acquisition, Smarter Web’s total Bitcoin investment exceeds £78 million.

The firm has reported outstanding treasury yields, particularly a year-to-date BTC Yield of 26,242% and a 30-day BTC Yield of 530%, aligning with its ambitious “10 Year Plan.”

As of the current month, Smarter Web has approximately £42.3 million in net cash available for future Bitcoin purchases, demonstrating its dedication to bolstering its cryptocurrency reserves.

Specializing in web design, development, and online marketing services, the company positions Bitcoin as a fundamental component of its long-term financial strategy.

Since the start of 2023, Smarter Web has embraced Bitcoin payments, asserting that the digital asset is integral to the future of global finance.

Recently, the company successfully raised £41.2 million ($56.59 million), shortly after announcing a $20 million investment to acquire nearly 197 Bitcoin.

Of the total capital raised, £36.27 million ($49.8 million) was sourced from a bookbuild, complemented by an additional £4.97 million ($6.82 million) through direct subscription.

Smarter Web’s directors reiterated their intention to pursue further acquisitions when opportunities align with the company’s growth objectives.

The announcement comes at a time when various public companies are increasingly adopting Bitcoin treasury strategies, pointing towards a rising institutional interest in the cryptocurrency, despite ongoing market volatility.

At the same time, other UK firms are enhancing their Bitcoin positions, even amidst ambiguity in national digital asset regulations.

Vinanz, another London-listed firm, has recently obtained 37.72 BTC, raising its total holdings close to 59 BTC.

Meanwhile, in April, investment firm Abraxas Capital made news with a substantial Bitcoin acquisition exceeding $250 million.

Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings with 2,205 More BTC

On Monday, Japanese firm Metaplanet broadened its Bitcoin treasury efforts by acquiring an additional 2,205 BTC.

This acquisition elevates Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin assets to 15,555 BTC, valued at nearly 225.8 billion yen ($1.7 billion) based on an average purchase price of 14.5 million yen per coin.

The latest purchase, worth 34.5 billion yen, is part of Metaplanet’s strategy following its declaration to formalize Bitcoin treasury operations as an official business segment in December 2024.

However, there are rising concerns regarding the sustainability of the Bitcoin treasury trend. Recently, Glassnode’s lead analyst James Check expressed doubts about the long-term viability of corporate Bitcoin treasury strategies, suggesting the rapid gains may be diminishing for newcomers as the market matures.

This sentiment aligns with warnings from Matthew Sigel, head of digital asset research at VanEck, who has raised alarms about the corporate Bitcoin treasury strategies being employed by publicly traded companies.
