The enigmatic creator of Bitcoin, known as Satoshi Nakamoto, has entered the ranks of the world’s wealthiest individuals as the cryptocurrency saw a remarkable surge, surpassing $120,000 this past Sunday.

Key Highlights:

Nakamoto’s holdings of Bitcoin are now estimated to be worth over $132.8 billion.

Market analysts predict that if Bitcoin continues to follow its historical growth trajectory, Nakamoto could ascend to the second richest individual by the year 2026.

According to the blockchain analytics firm Arkham, Nakamoto possesses around 1.096 million BTC, distributed across numerous wallets, translating to a current valuation exceeding $132.8 billion. This immense fortune places Nakamoto at an estimated 11th position on Forbes’ billionaire rankings, surpassing tech entrepreneur Michael Dell, whose net worth is approximately $125.1 billion.

Future Prospects for Nakamoto

Experts suggest that Nakamoto’s wealth may continue to grow. Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas stated in early June that if Bitcoin maintains its historical average annual growth rate of 50%, Nakamoto could claim the second spot on the billionaire list by 2026.

Balchunas noted Nakamoto’s choice to hold onto their holdings rather than cash them out, drawing a comparison to the investment legend Jack Bogle, who, while changing the investment landscape, accumulated a relatively modest fortune.

If bitcoin does its normal 50%/ann then Satoshi will pass Buffett this year and Zuck sometime next year-ish to be #2 richest in world (Elon has huge lead). It’s fascinating to ponder that the founder of something so successful never cashed in. It echoes Jack Bogle in that regard https://t.co/tu9MRzUD5h

When compared to other major Bitcoin holders, Nakamoto’s holdings stand alone. Corporations and custodians collectively possess around 847,000 BTC, which is approximately 4% of Bitcoin’s total supply.

Prominent individual holders include the Winklevoss twins with around 70,000 BTC, venture capitalist Tim Draper with roughly 30,000 BTC acquired in a 2014 auction, and Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy, who reportedly owns nearly 18,000 BTC privately.

It’s noteworthy that Forbes does not include cryptocurrency assets in its rankings, focusing instead on publicly verifiable possessions such as stocks.

Despite the phenomenal rise of Bitcoin, Nakamoto still trails significantly behind Elon Musk, who tops the list with an estimated fortune of $404 billion.

For Nakamoto to reach the number one position, Bitcoin would need to experience a substantial increase of around 208%, reaching close to $370,000, assuming other billionaires’ wealth remains static.

A price surge of this magnitude would elevate Nakamoto above Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, both of whom have fortunes estimated at $274 billion.

$20,000 Bitcoin Transfer to Satoshi’s Wallet

Recently, an anonymous wallet sent $20,000 worth of Bitcoin to Nakamoto’s Genesis Block address, marking the largest transfer to the Bitcoin creator’s wallet in four months.

Arkham Intelligence analysts suggested that this transaction could have been an accidental exchange withdrawal or a purposeful tribute from an early Bitcoin supporter honoring Nakamoto. This recent transfer aligns with a history of periodic large donations to Nakamoto’s wallets, often associated with exchange withdrawals.

Historical data reveals transfers ranging from several thousand to over one million dollars throughout the years. Currently, the dormant wallets are reported to contain approximately $117 billion in Bitcoin, which has remained untouched since Nakamoto disappeared in 2011. Any significant transactions from these addresses could potentially disrupt the market significantly.

As these developments unfold, speculation surrounding Satoshi’s true identity has intensified. Some researchers have pointed towards Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey as a possible candidate, while claims made by Craig Wright regarding identity were dismissed in court.
