The Ethereum Time Capsule is set to launch on June 30 at EthCC in Cannes, marking the start of a month-long period for submitting digital artifacts that encapsulate the Ethereum narrative.
A Decade of Ethereum, Captured On-Chain
The project will gather a diverse array of contributions, ranging from personal stories and forecasts to memes, messages, artworks, and various other digital items that reflect the Ethereum experience.
This initiative seeks to establish a decentralized and tamper-proof collection that documents the cultural and technological evolution of Ethereum. The window for submissions will close on July 30, 2025, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of Ethereum’s genesis block.
“Acknowledging our past is essential for cultivating the culture and values of Ethereum,” states Jérôme de Tychey, President of Ethereum-France and founder of EthCC.

Encrypted Today, Revealed Tomorrow
Submissions to the capsule will employ Shutter Network’s threshold encryption technology, ensuring that content remains private and resistant to alteration until it is officially revealed on the 11th anniversary of Ethereum, set for July 30, 2026. At that point, the entries will be decrypted and permanently inscribed on-chain for public exploration.
Luis Bezzenberger, Head of Product at brainbot, emphasizes, “By securing encrypted entries on-chain, we can ensure that submissions remain confidential and intact until the planned unveiling in 2026.”
Open to All, Supporting Ethereum’s Future
Participation in the Ethereum Time Capsule is accessible to anyone, with a nominal fee of about $2.50 USD (0.001 ETH). All proceeds will go directly to the Protocol Guild, an organization committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of Ethereum’s core development.
