A woman was shot and injured at CIA headquarters following a crash into one of the facility’s gates early Thursday morning, according to NBC News.

Preliminary reports from two senior law enforcement officials indicate that the woman is identified as 27-year-old Monia Spadaro.

Authorities are investigating whether Spadaro was under the influence at the time of the incident that occurred on CIA property in Langley, Virginia. She is currently receiving medical treatment for the gunshot wounds, officials disclosed to NBC.

Records from Arlington General District Court reveal that Spadaro was previously convicted of driving while intoxicated in 2021 and received a suspended sentence of 180 days in jail.

In a statement, the CIA confirmed that there was a security incident at its headquarters that prompted a law enforcement response.

“The main gate is currently closed, and employees should seek alternate routes. Further information will be provided as it becomes available,” the agency’s spokesperson told Finance Newso.

Requests for additional details were not met with further comment from the spokesperson.

This shooting occurred just hours after a separate incident in which two staff members from the Israeli Embassy, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were fatally shot outside Washington D.C.’s Capital Jewish Museum.

No evidence has emerged to suggest a connection between the two incidents.

Fairfax County Police reported that they responded to the situation around 4 a.m. ET to assist the CIA with traffic control measures following the shooting.

As of now, there are no road closures in effect, according to the police department.

The CIA headquarters, officially named the George Bush Center for Intelligence since 1999, has a history of violence. Notably, in January 1993, an assailant named Mir Aimal Kansi killed two CIA employees and injured three others outside the building. Additionally, there was a prolonged standoff earlier this year involving a man who surrendered after hours outside the headquarters.

This is a developing story. Please check for updates.
