On Monday, airlines in the Middle East rerouted numerous flights following reports from Iran’s military that a missile strike was launched against a U.S. military base located in Qatar, intensifying tensions in the area.

Flight-tracking tool Flightradar24 indicated that at least six commercial flights were turned away near UAE airspace, which has been reported as closed to incoming traffic. Additionally, the island nation of Bahrain has temporarily restricted its airspace, as confirmed by Reuters.

In response to the escalating situation, several major international airlines including Air France, Iberia, and Finnair publicized decisions to suspend select flights serving the Middle East.

American Airlines had already halted its flights to Doha, while United Airlines ceased operations to Dubai.

U.S. airlines also previously ceased services to Israel following an airstrike on Iran conducted by Israel earlier this month.
