Ford Motor Company is initiating a recall of over 130,000 Lincoln Aviator SUVs in the United States, prompted by concerns regarding the potential detachment of parts while the vehicles are in motion, as reported by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Tuesday.

This recall impacts 132,914 Lincoln Aviators produced between 2020 and 2025, due to the possibility that the adhesive bonding of the C-pillar trim and rear door window bars may be insufficient. Such a defect could result in parts coming loose from the vehicles, increasing the likelihood of a crash, according to the NHTSA.

The report indicates that the potential detachment of these components may be attributed to inadequate application pressure during the assembly process at the supplier facility, leading to insufficient adhesive retention.

The NHTSA estimates that approximately 3.2% of the recalled Aviators might exhibit this defect.

Owners of the affected Lincoln Aviators can visit designated dealerships for complimentary repairs or replacements of the defective parts. Additionally, Ford plans to notify these owners through mailed letters about the safety concern by the end of the month.
This recall announcement follows another recent action by Ford, where the automaker recalled over 197,000 Mustang Mach E midsize SUVs from model years 2021 to 2025 due to safety concerns regarding the risk of back seat passengers becoming trapped.

Earlier this year, Ford also executed a large-scale recall affecting nearly 400,000 vehicles across various categories for different safety issues. Similarly, last week, Honda initiated a recall involving approximately 259,000 Honda and Acura models, citing a concern that a potentially malfunctioning brake pedal could shift from its intended position.
