This summer, NASA’s live events, encompassing rocket launches, spacewalks, and captivating views of Earth from space, will become available for streaming on Netflix.

According to a press release, this initiative is part of NASA’s strategy to engage a wider global audience. The agency emphasized that all content will remain accessible without charge and will be free from advertisements on its app and website, where live programming is already offered.

NASA+ was introduced in 2023 as a means to enhance public access to space-related programming.

Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, expressed in the announcement, “The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience.”

No financial specifics regarding the collaboration have been revealed by NASA.

This partnership arrives during a period of increased commercial rocket launches, notably driven by Elon Musk’s SpaceX. According to data from Space Explored, SpaceX conducted 81 launches in the first half of 2025. The company remains the sole U.S. entity with a certified spacecraft capable of transporting astronauts to the International Space Station.

In parallel, NASA is actively backing missions within low-Earth orbit.

Shares of Netflix, which boasts over 700 million subscribers, are currently trading at record highs, showing an increase of almost 51% since the year began.
