Ripple has announced a collaboration with the Web3 Salon initiative, facilitated by the Asia Web3 Alliance Japan, to support XRPL startups throughout Japan.

Revealed on Monday, the XRP issuer plans to provide grant funding of up to $200,000 for each project over the upcoming year. This initiative is part of the extended XRPL Japan and Korea Fund, aligning with Ripple’s extensive commitment of 1 billion XRP.

According to Ripple, the funding will be designated for a select cohort of early-stage startups in Japan that are developing solutions on the XRPL, encompassing areas such as decentralized finance (DeFi) and tokenized real-world assets (RWA).

Grant recipients will be chosen based on criteria including their potential for growth, technological innovation, and how well they align with Ripple’s investment goals.

Moreover, these startups will benefit from access to Ripple’s expansive global partner network and expert guidance, as highlighted by the digital asset firm.

Grant Program or a Multi-Stakeholder Platform?

Startups selected for the program will not only receive financial resources but will also gain ecosystem support from Ripple, while Web3 Salon will provide mentorship, workshops, and tailored opportunities aimed at scaling their ventures.

“Through this partnership with Ripple, we aim to support visionary founders and strengthen the bridge between global innovation and Japan’s tech landscape,” remarked Hinza Asif, President of Asia Web3 Alliance Japan.

Ripple characterizes this venture as more than just a grant program, describing it as a multi-stakeholder platform designed to bridge the gap between traditional finance and Web3 innovations.

The initiative includes plans for four significant events throughout Japan by 2026, focusing on enhancing Web3 innovation, aligning policies, and engaging investors through pitch contests, policy sessions, and networking opportunities.

Ripple Initiative Fosters Japan’s XRP Boom

Earlier this year, Japan’s banking sector acknowledged XRP, marking a pivotal moment for institutional adoption.

The Bank of Japan (BOJ) stated that all banks in the nation will implement XRP for payment processing by the conclusion of 2025.

Furthermore, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced last year that the company is actively working towards launching a stablecoin in Japan, pending regulatory approval and licensing.

Recently, Mercari, a leading player in Japan’s e-commerce market, introduced XRP trading features on its Mercoin crypto exchange app.
