U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff has expressed strong support for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, triggered by recent revelations of a private dinner planned for top holders of the Official Trump meme coin.

During a town hall meeting in Georgia on April 25, Ossoff condemned the president’s actions, alleging that Trump is “selling access” to his office.

“I saw just 48 hours ago, he is granting audiences to people who buy his meme coin,” Ossoff stated, as reported by NBC News.

He asserted that “When the sitting president of the United States is effectively accepting payments for access, that clearly qualifies as an impeachable offense.”

Senator Advocates for Impeachment Amid Political Challenges

While he reiterated his strong support for impeachment proceedings, Ossoff acknowledged the significant obstacles any such measures would encounter unless the Democratic Party regains control of Congress in the 2026 midterm elections.

At present, Republicans maintain a majority in both chambers of Congress.

This controversy was ignited by an announcement on the Official Trump memecoin website on April 23, which outlined plans for an exclusive dinner to be hosted by Trump at his Washington, D.C., golf club.

The event is set to be attended by the top 220 holders of the TRUMP token, with the website providing a public leaderboard and details for registration.

Following this announcement, the value of the TRUMP token skyrocketed by over 50%, according to CoinMarketCap.

To attend the dinner, applicants must clear a background check and must not be from countries flagged under Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations. Additionally, no guests will be permitted.

$TRUMP Token Team Clarifies Entry Requirements for Dinner Event

In a statement released on April 24, the $TRUMP token team clarified misconceptions surrounding the entry requirements for participating in the “Dinner with President Trump” contest, noting that holders do not need to spend $300,000 to qualify.

The team emphasized that entry encompasses not only active holdings but also those that are locked and not part of the contest.

Eligibility will be based on a ranking of registered users on the official leaderboard, which reflects time-weighted $TRUMP balances throughout the competition period.

“People have been incorrectly quoting #220 on the block explorer as the cutoff. That’s inaccurate because it includes locked tokens, exchanges, market makers, and those who are not participating,” the team explained.

The project further specified that all participants must formally register in order to be counted. At the time of the announcement, the holder ranked 220th had just over $400 worth of tokens.

The leaderboard can be accessed at trumpdinner.gettrumpmemes.com.

According to the team, tokens from cliff unlocks and daily distributions will remain locked for an additional 90 days, even beyond the end of the competition.
