In a significant move for the cryptocurrency landscape, Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, has officially integrated its currency into the Kaia blockchain, a new Layer 1 network that debuted in August 2024.
On Wednesday, Tether announced that USDT will be available on the Mini Dapp platform and self-custodial wallet of the popular Japanese messaging app, LINE.
Tether emphasized the potential of its stablecoin, stating on X, “Tether’s stablecoin will power Mini Dapps and more, unlocking a new era of digital dollar utility across Asia.”

The introduction of USDT on Kaia is anticipated to enhance the use of stablecoins and advance Web3 technologies throughout Asia. LINE NEXT and Kaia Chain will collaborate to facilitate this expansion.
According to the official announcement, “Users will be able to utilize USDT across Mini Dapps for in-app payments, cross-border transfers, and decentralized finance (DeFi) activities, all within the familiar LINE environment.”
Moreover, features within Mini Dapps will harness the capabilities of the stablecoin, delivering users a “seamless digital asset experience within LINE Messenger.”
Tether Taps LINE’s 196 Million Active User Base with USDT Integration
This initiative will allow users to earn rewards in USDT by completing various tasks within Mini Dapps. Additionally, users will have the ability to send and receive the dollar-pegged stablecoin directly through the in-app wallet on LINE Messenger, as highlighted in the announcement.
“Tether’s native launch on Kaia represents another milestone in making stablecoins accessible to millions of mainstream users,” commented Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether.
He continued, “Through LINE NEXT’s blockchain infrastructure, over 200 million LINE users will now have a straightforward way to engage with digital assets in everyday life.”
Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, expressed the belief that this adoption will pave the way for a “dollar-based gateway” in Asia.
Tether Consistently Mints New Tokens
This integration follows Tether’s recent minting of $1 billion USDT on May 5, expanding the total USDT supply on the Tron network to $71.4 billion. The announcement noted, “ARKHAM ALERT: $1,000,000,000 USDT MINTED JUST NOW,” accompanied by a tweet from Arkham.

Additionally, Tether reported an operating profit of $1 billion for the first quarter of 2025, primarily driven by robust returns from its U.S. Treasury holdings. It also mentioned that there is currently $72.8 billion USDT issued on the Ethereum network.
