During a visit to Capitol Hill on Tuesday, President Donald Trump faced challenges in persuading essential Republican lawmakers from blue states to reconsider their stance on a significant tax proposal. These lawmakers have expressed that the bill falls short in enhancing the so-called SALT deductions that would benefit their constituents.
The resistance from the members of the “SALT Caucus” poses a substantial threat to the passage of the tax legislation, which both Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., aim to push through before the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
