On Sunday, Maxar Technologies, a prominent U.S. defense contractor, published satellite images revealing recent activity at Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility, occurring just before U.S. air strikes took place.
Captured on Thursday and Friday, the images highlight significant truck and vehicle movement at the entrance of the underground military site, which has largely remained shrouded in secrecy.
The Fordo facility, located 300 feet beneath a mountain and fortified with thick layers of concrete, stands south of Tehran. It is recognized as Iran’s most secure and sophisticated nuclear installation.
In addition to the Fordo facility, the U.S. air strikes on Saturday targeted nuclear sites at Natanz and Isfahan. President Trump characterized the assault as a “spectacular military success,” claiming it had “completely obliterated” Iran’s essential enrichment capabilities.
However, the president’s assertions regarding the operation’s effectiveness remain unverified. As of Sunday morning, sources such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran’s nuclear safety authorities have reported no signs of radiation or contamination at the nuclear facilities post-attack.
