Yum! Brands announced on Tuesday that Chris Turner, currently serving as Chief Financial and Franchise Officer, will take over as CEO, effective October 1.
Turner succeeds David Gibbs, who revealed his retirement earlier this year after leading the company since 2020. Gibbs will continue to support Yum as an advisor until 2026.
Having joined Yum in 2019, Turner previously held prominent positions at PepsiCo and spent over ten years with McKinsey.
Upon his appointment, Turner expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm, stating, “I’m deeply honored to step into the role of CEO at Yum! Brands and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead this global company with such iconic brands.” He added, “I’m excited to build on all that we’ve accomplished together alongside our talented teams and in partnership with our franchisees around the world,” as detailed in a statement.
During Gibbs’ tenure, Yum expanded its digital ordering capabilities and emphasized value menus. Analysts anticipate that Turner will continue these initiatives as consumer spending patterns evolve.
With operations spanning over 150 countries, Yum! Brands is known for its popular chains including KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Habit Burger.
Company shares have risen approximately 5% this year.
